It is a well-known fact that the Democratic and Republican parties dominate the entire political process, everywhere from elections to government funding. Due to the great amount of power that they have been able to obtain throughout the course of history, the parties have become more and more corrupt. There are even some political scientists, along with the ordinary people of America who pay attention to politics, who believe that we no longer have a two-party system. Instead, it is believed by these people that we merely have a "one-party system with two faces." (Seese, p.1)
Because of this so called "joining together" of the two prevalent parties, there is a profound need to give far more supplementary power to independent party members. The framers of our constitution did not agree with political parties, which is why there is no mention of them in the Constitution at all. Even so, the two-party system has been a part of our nation's history since after George Washington served his two terms as the first President of the United States. the first two parties in America were the Federalist and the Anti-Federalist parties. These parties began early political divisions that are reflected in our system of government still today...
