The Black Death
"It started with a headache. Then chills and fever, which left them exhausted and prostrate. Maybe they experienced nausea, vomiting, back pain, soreness in their arms and legs. Perhaps bright light was just too bright to stand." Good morning Miss Mumford and class. What you just heard was a quote written by a doctor whose patients suffered a most painful death.
In 1347 a mysterious disease spread across Europe killing thousands. Doctors had no idea what caused the disease or how to cure it. This disease was called the Black Death.
The Black Death began in China and by 1347 it had reached the shores of England, carried there by rats coming over on Italian ships...
