After reading Benet's essay, people should learn from the events that happened in Salem, Massachusetts. Many people in Salem died as a result of the witchcraft hysteria during the year of 1692, mainly wintertime. Hysteria is a behavior in which many people show fear or panic. It is necessary to analyze what went wrong, so that history doesn't repeat itself. Before an action is performed, it is critical to think about the consequences. Women and children were accused of being witches and then most of them were either hanged or lived the rest of their lives in a jail.
Intelligent people lost their reason because they were not accepted in society. No one rally cared about them, so they just wanted to get some attention. Boredom in the wintertime was also a cause of this hysteria. Others, such as Ann Putnam, held grudges against people and wanted to get revenge on them...
