In every computer exists an operating system. It is crucial for that operating system to perform tasks efficiently and effectively in order for it to remain beneficial to its users. The OS is responsible for managing and maintaining each specific program that is executed and performed. For instance, you may need to store data, retrieve data, run programs, or even create your own programs at any given moment or time; therefore, it is an essential that your operating system runs at a dependable, efficient, accurate, and user friendly level. An immeasurable number of operations and procedures come into effect when you comprise what the main purpose will be for your operating system. This is why it is important for your operating system to be suited for your own individual needs. While many operating systems on the market today such as Microsoft Windows and Mac OS, offer there own unique qualities and characteristics, Linux operating system will competently perform a number of useful tasks, and may even go above and beyond your personal expectations.
The birth of Linux came about in 1991 when Linus Torvalds, a computer science student from Helsinki, Finland, sought out to create an operating system that would not only be similar to UNIX, but offer more flexibility and be introduced at a lower cost. Because he was a Computer science student he had a number of invaluable resources accessible to him. Excellent Internet access and shared knowledge from other students who had prior experience with UNIX operating systems proved to be very useful assets...
