Breaking Through, which was written by Francisco Jimenez, has three main
characters in the first 5 Chapters, Francisco himself, his papa and his mama. The story begins with Papa leads the family out of Mexico and come to America to find a new life. Papa is the supporting character runs through the whole story.
Papa is the head of the Jimenez family. On each important occasion, it is papa always makes the final decision to do or not to do. He has a two-side character on which one side he is very strong and responsible, and the other side he is weak and emotional.
He loves his children and responsible to the family; while he treats his children very strictly and always shouts to them and do not let the children to disagree with him, which also shows that papa is a sentimental person. has the spirit to keep the family out of portray that he works so hard in the field when he become a sharecropper. He also teaches the kids being respect to others. Otherwise they cannot be respectful...
