The Great Gatsby
The character Jay Gatsby in the novel The Great Gatsby can be compared to the author, F. Scott Fitzgerald who wrote the book. It seems as if in a way Fitzgerald is somewhat telling the story of his early life through Jay Gatsby. Gatsby and Fitzgerald's lives are very much alike in the most important aspects. Fitzgerald may have used his imagination to spice his life up with elegant parties, big money spenders and many affairs and betrayals. A brief description of Fitzgerald's life would make this essay more understandable as to why Fitzgerald and Gatsby are so much alike.
Fitzgerald was born in St. Paul Minnesota on September 24th 1892. His father was from Maryland and his mother was the daughter of a Irish immigrant. Fitzgerald, unlikely to graduate from Princeton, joined the army in 1917...
