THE RUGBY TRIP
It was the last day of term two, the mid-term holidays looming ever so close. No one was interested in classes though, our thoughts were on preparation for the club rugby trip to Sydney to watch the centenary match between Australia and England.
The 'Chriss's' touring bus arrived at school at 7:30 p.m. and luggage was immediately placed into the baggage compartment. Although there was a warning that no alcohol was permitted on the trip, it did not stop a few of my teammates bringing some along and setting up a mini bar in the rear compartment of the bus. The amount of alcohol was immense, bourbon and coke, vodka and orange and a variety of sweet concoctions. The question on everyone's mind though, was how one of the junior players managed to smuggle a whole slab of beer under his shirt. It was not until everyone settled down in their seats, that the engine roared into life, signaling the beginning of an eventful two days.
After a few drinks, I indulged in some well-deserved sleep, whilst others played cards, read books or watched the late movie...
