How does a person distinguish between men and women? Part of the answer is the biological differences between women and men, such as hormones and physical traits. The other half of the answer lies in gender, the socially constructed identity used by people in a culture to emphasize the distinctions of women and men. Masculinity and femininity are how a culture distinct men and women. People are born sexed, not gendered. Sex is determined by the physiological differences of men and women bodies. Gender is the expectations of behavior for women and men.
