It's a scary new year. People are worried about war returning to our home front and about their financial situations. For the jobless war isn't the problemor the solution. Over the last two years the economy has lost two million jobs, and with hundreds of thousands of workers filing new unemployment claims, it's likely to get worse.
The war in Iraq is one more black cloud over the job market, one more reason for nervous employers not to hire, for some, a reason to cut the workers they have. For example: airline workers are being laied off because no one wants to travel by air or really go very far from home. They would rather stay close to home where it's safe. Lots of workers are willing to switch fields in order to find jobs...
