An Analysis of Ode to Joy by Ludwig van Beethoven
Ludwig van Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" portrays extravagant techniques by employing a human voice and utilizing violins and other strings as the main instruments to demonstrate the emotions commonly found in the Classical music era. Technique is portrayed three different times in the symphony: (1) an agitato section mostly sung by the prima donna with strings and brasses played forte, (2) a adagio sung by both the prima donna and prima basso accompanied by stringed instruments and woodwinds, and (3) pieces of appassionato throughout the piece portrayed by the crescendo of voices by both tenors and crescendo of sounds by the instruments to elicit ones emotions. Beethoven's "Symphony no. 9" fills the heart with vibrancy and melancholy, taking ones emotions to the peak then down to the bottom.
Agitato Section (Repeats)
The agitato starts out the symphony alla breve. The agitato is represented by the high pitched voice of the prima donna and allegrissimo. The prima donna's vivace and bel canto voice fills ones heart with excitement and joy. Also instruments are being played with much appassionato giving one these feelings. The instruments heard are stringed instruments such as violins, bass, violas, and brass instruments. These instruments which are heard complements nice mix of high pitched and low pitched sounds...
