There are different Life Cycle Models that the company can take into consideration which are:
Black Box Model
Waterfall Model
Spiral Model
Black Box Model:
The Black Box Model could be used for the development of the system which combines the GPS navigation information and roadmap software. This Life Cycle Model involves specifying the Requirement, Developing the Project and delivering it. However development within this model has no external visibility, review or control. This model is sometimes knows as the "Code and Fix" approach. There is no prediction of time or cost and this means you cannot predict delivery until it happens. Therefore the Black Box life cycle model might not be the appropriate model for the development of the system.
Waterfall Model:
The Waterfall Model could be used for the development of the system. This model is the most general method for the software and system development. The waterfall model consists of different phases and each phase has a number of defined deliverables associated with it.
The phases generally defined for the waterfall model are:
Concept
Requirement Analysis
Design
Implementation
Test
Installation / release
Each phase is defined in term of Inputs, tasks and Outputs...
