Fluids in the Human Body
Ingested water doesn't directly travel to the bladder ready to be expelled. Water spreads through the whole of the human body, the water can move around to various locations within the body by different routes.
65% of the human body is made up of water; it's a major component of all fluids in the body. Some of these fluids are mucus, tears, saliva and various digestive juices. The most important liquid is tissue fluid which surrounds organs such as the brain, kidney, heart and lungs.
The path of water is first it is drunk through the mouth which mixes with a little saliva. It is then swallowed and begins its journey to the stomach. A big muscular wave in the stomach propels the water with part-digested food through to the opening of the small intestine, it continues through the intestines being pushed forward still mixing with digestive fluids. Eventually, the mixture of the water and broken-down food which contain nutrients are taken up into very fine blood vessels. The remaining food passes into the large intestine in a watery condition...
