A Discussion of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Letters from Birmingham Jail"
Throughout history segregation has been a part of many cultures. There has been segregation between different social classes, men and women, and varying religions. In 1963 the segregation that existed, and probably in some ways still exists, was between blacks and whites. During this time many people in Alabama and all of America were fighting to integrate the races. In the battle to accomplish this a great leader emerged out of the black community; his name was Martin Luther King Jr., and in April of 1963 Dr. King wrote a letter from a jail cell.
