Using my background knowledge of the band and music genre, I have subsequently produced a review which is knowledgeable to existing Goldfinger fans, as well as informative to the inexperienced supporters. Album reviews have an objective to provide accurate information, as well as passing personal opinion on the album in question. Such information must be presented in a manner which is both enjoyable and engaging, to ensure that an entertaining piece of journalism is produced.
The link between the writer (myself), and the audience is established through use of personal pronouns, such as 'we', which suggest that the writer and the audience are part of an exclusive team. This can involve the reader more in the article by making them feel that the review was produced for them. I have used language which would appeal to the target audience, such as non-standard forms like, 'Nice one' that diverse from the Standard English used throughout the review. I feel an informal approach to this task may have resulted in my opinions not being taken seriously, which would obliterate the entire purpose of the article. However, colloquialisms are used to help mask the formality of the language to ensure that the article appeals to its teenager audience. Consequently, colloquial language such as, 'crack a smile' and 'pretty powerful stuff' can be seen throughout.
