One of the most well known need-motive value theories is Hackman and Oldman's Job Characteristic Theory. In short it defines the characteristics of tasks and finds the connection between them and motivation. It describes all jobs based on five core dimensions. They are skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy, and feedback. The more the job has of each of these the more motivated the employee will be. An airport security officer is an important job that doesn't have a lot of popularity. It is important to analyze the five core dimensions to find out how to improve employee performance and overall attraction to the job.
