Greek history is full of many famous warriors, monsters and adventures. From the all mighty Gods, to the noble kings, the tales of incredible battles and mysterious quests have been passed down through the ages and serve well as storybook tales for our children. Some of the more memorable accounts that have been recorded are from the Greek poet Homer and his writings of the Iliad and The Odyssey. One of the warriors that Homer describes is a man named Achilles, who is a warrior fighting with the Greek army that has set out to avenge the abduction of their warlords wife, who was taken by the prince of Troy. The conflict occurred sometime around 1200 BC, the poet Homer would record the events in his poem the Iliad around 700 BC. The Trojan War is one of the most famous events in history; many modern military commanders retain knowledge of the battles fought, the most renown being the significant use of the Trojan horse to infiltrate the enemy’s camp. The kidnapping of an overlord’s wife started the Trojan War, it ended with the destruction of a city, and the death of many people. One of the documents in Homer’s Iliad is “The Wrath of Achilles” which shows a conflict between two different commanders. The document also reveals the significance of the value and belief that the Greek’s retain in their gods.
