Water Pollution
One problem our world has, and probably will have to deal with for a very long time is pollution of our earth's water. The problem of water pollution has been going on for as long as back in the 1950's, of course back then it was far less of a problem, but it has only escalated ever since. Water pollution is a big problem in the U.S such as in the Mississippi river, and other bodies of water, like lake eerie, but it is also a big problem in foreign countries to. The Rhine River in Germany has had a large amount of pollution for a long time, in one experiment at a conference about the Rhine River back in 1979 a large fish tank was rolled into the conference, and two goldfish were placed in it, after two hours the fish were dead. This was not to greatly surprising to them, as they had found more than 1,500 chemicals in the water, and only the top 6 inches of the river were transparent. There is also a lot of problem with the pollution of our earth's salt water, such as our oceans, gulfs, and other bodies of water, but for now we're going to focus on fresh water pollution in the United States, and some possible solutions to help work against it. The earth's surface is known to be 74% water, 97% of this water is in the oceans, and the remaining three is known as fresh water. 77% of this fresh water is stored as ice, and 22% of it is found as ground water, and soil moisture. What's left over of this fresh water makes up less than 1 percent of the total earth, and is in lakes, rivers, and wetlands...
