Will President George W. Bush's energy policy of allowing oil drilling in Alaska's National Artic Wildlife Refuge benefit and boost our economy or will it lead to social costs that destroy the wildlife of the Refuge? This issue of drilling oil in Alaska has been a huge debate between President George W. Bush and environmentalists. President Bush supports drilling in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge and wants to let Oil Company's drill on 1.5 million acres of coastal plain in the 19.3 million-acre refuge. However, Environmentalists object to such a plan, saying the Artic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) should be left unspoiled.
Americans are divided on the issue, with some polls reporting that slightly more people oppose drilling than favor it. Environmentalists and Democrats say that there is not enough oil in the Refuge to risk damaging ANWR's fragile land and wildlife...
