"The Wife of Bath's Tale" is a story that takes place in the middle ages. This tale is about a knight's crime and how he gets rewarded for accepting his punishment. "The Wife of Bath's tale" shows some of the values and beliefs and beliefs people had during the middle ages. Some of these values were chivalry, religious beliefs, and the cast system.
Chivalry was a system of ideals and social codes [that applied to] the knights." In "The Wife of Bath's Tale" the knight is not very chivalrous; he rapes a young maiden and gets sentenced to death for it. Chivalry was valued by many people. If a knight broke one of these social goals it would undermine the knight's position. The knight regains his honor when he sticks to his word and marries the old women.
