Luther and Calvin
The separation between Luther and Calvin was all based upon religion. There were two leaders at the time in charge of religion, Martin Luther (1483-1546), and John Calvin (1509-1564). Martin Luther was a German monk who taught theology a Wittenberg University, and John Calvin was a Frenchman who taught theology where he lived in Geneva, Switzerland. Religion was their primary concern, they thought that all people should have the right to read the Bible, and study the word of god. For example, "Luther and Calvin asserted that all people have the right and the obligation to read and study the Bible, for along it is the word of God" p.6; however, they had different views on how the bible and god's word should be expressed Their views were significantly different, much so that they had a tremendous impact on the colonist society.
Luther's views were generous of the common people; they were equal in everyway if anyone decided to read. For example, his views were "argued that priest should not be considered a privileged class, separate and more holy than ordinary men and woman. All true believers are equally endowed with grace" p.6...
