Pop Art first became known in Britain during the 1950s and it referred to the popular number of artists who made images for advertising, comics and consumer products.
In 1950 there was a period of opportunity in Britain following the end of the Second World War food rationing, and a large growth in consumer purchase was seen.
Pop Art started with the youth and pop music phenomenon of the 1950s and '60s, and became very much a part of the image of fashionable lifestyle. Peter Blake, for example, designed album covers for Elvis Presley and the Beatles and placed film stars such as Brigitte Bardot in his pictures in the same way that Warhol was immortalizing Marilyn Monroe in the USA.
Pop Art still remains a large part of advertising .
In this essay of Pop Art, I Will mainly cover work done by Andy Warhol, whom in my opinion is probably the best artist I have come across. I will choose four examples of Pop-Art work and write about them giving a brief history of the artist, his methods and the opinion of the work.
