Title IX has been a controversial subject from the very start. Not only is the law itself divisive but the topic it deals with has had a troubled journey. Title IX is an advocate of women's rights, but not in the way you might think. It doesn't deal with voting or careers or any other obvious topic. High school and college sports are the center of this law. There was a major inequality concerning the opportunities for men and women in sports. So in "1972, a law was passed that bans gender discrimination at institutions receiving federal funds." Not only did this bring equal rights, but more controversy. This controversy could simply solved by the individual universities making adjustments.
Since Title IX was passed in 1972 is that there has been a change in our expectations of what women can achieve...
