Family Ties
What is family? Family is Togetherness, Honesty, Grace and Unconditional Love. A family can only function properly if one possesses all of these qualities; otherwise, it can lead to unhappiness. The novel, "Girl Talk" supports this theory in many ways through Lissy Joblinski's life. Lissy is a woman who focuses on her life primarily at the age of 15. Lissy's family is not about togetherness, honesty, grace and unconditional love. In fact, it is quite the opposite.
Honesty is not a key part of their life. For example, Lissy's mom Dotty has raised Lissy all her life to believe that her step father is her biological father, and she was really conceived by a half blind man underneath a tent. This news was very shocking to Lissy and she really wanted to know why her mom had always kept this awful secret from her...
