Juveniles who commit murder
Can we really try the youth of America or juveniles as adults in a society that has failed
them as children? A child picks up a weapon and points it at his little brother and kills him. That
is a horrible situation to be sure, but is it murder? For an act to be murder you need pre
meditation, deliberation, and malice. Can we really charge a child with the responsibility of
these emotions? What is more likely to be true that a child failed society or that society failed a
child? I will discuss the reasons why juveniles who commit murder should NOT be tried as
adults. We need to take into consideration the aspects of gun control, the foundation of family
morals and how it plays a role on the juveniles behavior patterns. Also the effects of Drugs,
alcohol, social groups and statuses, state correctional facilities, and basically the profile of a
juvenile offender. I will explain how all these things play a role to keep kids off of death row...
