Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767, just days after the death of his father. He lived with relatives and he and his two older brothers were raised by his mother. Andrew Jackson was a skinny kid with red hair and a short temper. When he was nine years old he read the Declaration of Independence to a gathering of people at his home. At the age of 14 Jackson fought at the battle of Hanging Rock during the Revolutionary War. During the battle he was captured and a British soldier asked that he clean his boots. Jackson refused and the soldier cut him on his head with his sword. He carried a scar with him for the rest of his life. By the time he was released his mother had passed away so he became an orphan.
