The Odyssey
In the epic poem, Odyssey, the character Odysseus portrays that he is a strong and courageous warrior. Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, faces many obstacles while he tries to journey back home to his native land. Therefore, his journey was very difficult. But he does not give up because nevertheless he is a Homeric leader. A Homeric leader is one who is strong, courageous, intelligent, and thirsty for glory. Thus, this Homeric leader is able to fight all his obstacles and reach his destination. Through his character traits, the author Homer intends to teach the audience the importance of staying strong and having faith in your abilities in difficult situations.
Odysseus defines a Homeric leader in every way, just as the police officers and firefighters define heroism. He is courageous and brave because he is willing and able to go to the extremes to get back to his native land and see his wife and son.
