What is the definition of right? The word right is defined as that which is just, morally good, legal, proper, or fitting according to Merriam Webster. There are many forms of right that overlap and are sometimes conflicting to each other. These two forms are what is morally right and what is legally right. This struggle between what is morally right and what is legally right is extremely apparent in Lidia Sanchez's story in which she describes harboring illegal aliens. Yes, what Lidia is doing is morally right but her actions are legally wrong. In my opinion, what is legally right takes precedent over what is morally right and thus Sanchez's actions are both illegal and endanger herself and her children. Overall, what is right means what is legal.
Laws are implemented to protect and regulate the citizens who are the ones who are responsible to these laws. Without such laws to regulate, we as a society would be in complete chaos and destruction...
