Organ Donor Informational Speech
Introduction:
I. Attention-Getter: "Each day about 63 people receive an organ transplant, but another 16 people die because not enough organs are available." 16 people may not seem like that many to you but what if one of those 16 was a family member or yours.
II. Credibility: About five years ago my aunt was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, which is a virus that causes inflammation of the liver. The infection led to the deterioration of her liver very quickly. She was immediately put on the critical list for a transplant. She was diagnosed in February 1998, and didn't receive a transplant until August 1998. She died that August, just two weeks after she received her transplant. She died because her body didn't have the ability to fight off rejection...
