La Ciudad & A Place called Chiapas
Simularities
While these two films are different La Ciudade being a fictional narrative and A place called Chiapas being a Documentarty both share the theme of struggle with the intention of awareness to the viewer
In both films, the people and characters struggle against overbearing and powerful system or structure that opposes the characters on screen.
Struggle in A place called Chiapas is a political struggle between the indigenous people of Chiapas and the Mexican army and also the struggle of the Zapatista uprising to bring about change revolution without the use of guns and the struggle to a social uprising. In Chiapas the Military and the government are targeted as the opposing forces and the imagery of politians in suits and ties and the site of army fatigues and military uniforms send a powerful message in contrast to the hard working farmers in modest clothes. ...
Unlike in A place called Chiapas where the struggle against opposing forces is visual threat where the viewer can identify those in power to with lack there of.
