In Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury draws an incredibly vivid story that takes place in a utopian world in the future. The houses at this time are completely fireproof, so the firemen have a new job of burning books and the houses that contain them. They arrest the rebels that go against the law by hiding and reading books. Montag, the main character is a fireman, but after meeting Clarisse, an odd ball of the society, he starts doubting his job and takes action.
Reading the book, I often times questioned in what time period did Bradbury write this book? The book is set in the future, but there were many aspects of this utopian world that our world has in common, and the interesting thing was that he expressed negative attitude toward them. When I finally brought myself to do the research, I found that the book was published exactly half a century ago. If he predicted all this, then he was awfully accurate. If he didnt, our world still has a long way to go; we cant hide behind the technology and say we have improved and advanced as global citizens. After much consideration about my book one, I have decided that by creating a utopian world in his writing, Bradbury criticized the way people search for happiness, but never want to work to earn it...
