"A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is a story about a town being faced with life's true test. Sometimes in life, your beliefs can come in the way of reality. I think that was the case in this story. The characters in this story were confronted with some thing out of the ordinary. The three elements of fiction that helped me get a better understanding of this story were characterization, symbolism, and theme.
The first element of fiction I chose to analyze is characterization. The characters in this story were Pelayo, Elisenda, and the towns people. Pelayo and Elisenda seemed to be hard working people who lived in a small town. They were very religious and were caring for a sick child. When the angel appeared, I think they saw him as a blessing...
