It was a hot summer day and I was sitting in the wooden bed under a palm tree with my family. Here I was a nine year old in another country half way across the world from the U.S. I was scared I admit to be in this place with all its different traditions and customs. I was in Vietnam for the first time visiting my distance relatives. The first day I got off the 23 hour plane ride and an 8 hour drive and entered my village I immediately showered, changed, and went to sleep. I took a long nap! When I woke up I went to examine the house I was staying in. The house was dark and gray. There were insects flying around and chameleons on the wall, and flies flying around and mosquitoes looking for some human blood. The house only had two floors and the top floor was pretty much deserted. In the attic the floors were wooden and not like American wooden floors but like the wood we use to build things!
