Should all students in Georgia take the SAT?
The SAT is designed to predict the success of students in college. Not all students are college material. In Georgia a majority of students are encouraged to take the SAT, not just the top 10 percent. Naturally, our scores will reflect a higher percentage of our population than scores in states where only the best students take the SAT.
In my opinion everyone enrolled in college prep courses should be required to take the SAT and should be properly prepped for it. I believe this is the problem, students are not prepared for college or told the importance of the SAT. In my experience I was not planning on going to college. I wanted to become a chef. I was in college prep courses but was too busy having fun to care about college...
