On our year 13 2003 school trip we will bw participating in camping and kayaking, it is better to organise your group gear into two different groups, camping and kayaking.
Kayking equipment.
Kayak
White water kayaks will be the most appropriate for this trip for we will be kayaking in white water and these kayaks are desighed for this purpose.
Spray skirt
These are important piece of equipment, this stops the boats from filling up with water, these will be usefull when kayaking on rapids such as fulljames where there waves will spill over the tops of our boats.
Buoyancy aid
It is essential for each member of the group to have this when they are kayaking in the boat, this will assist them when been separated from the boat and help them to float
Helmet
It is also essential to have kayakers with a well fitted helmet to protect theres head from any collilions with rocks both above and below the water. Full jame rapids where we are kayaking and know to have many visuable rocks.
Paddles
Each member of the group needs a paddle to kayak with to support them and stir then in the rapids. We should bring extra paddles incase we lose of brake one. Beacause as we have seen on a video they have been broken at the Aniwhenua waterfall in which there is a high chance.
Kayking /clothing
Swimwear/boardies
Thermals (quick drying)
Socks/booties to prevent blisters from the kayak
Wetsuits, rash shirts( for extra warmth)
Wind proof jackert ( for extra warmth)
