What am I aiming to find out
I am investigating to see if osmosis increases or decreases (whether the water diffused increases or decreases into the tissue) when the concentration of the bathing solution the tissue is soaked in, increases. In simplistic terms, whether the concentration of the solution affects the amount of water transmitted in or out of the tissues.
The tissues I am going to compare against each other are potato and Chinese radish, which are plant cells. This means I must not forget to take the skin off, which is partially permeable and so may alter the results if it is not taken off. The solute we are using is sucrose solution (C12 H22 O11). I will use a scalpel; to cut the oversized potato cores to 5cm in length. Ideally I want a replica and 6 variables (distilled water, 0.2 molar solution, 0.4 molar solution, 0.6 molar solution, 0...
