Suffrage, the privilege of being able to vote in one's federal and local elections and other political functions; also known as, one of the greatest desires of nineteenth century women.
In the late nineteenth century, a woman by the name of Susan B. Anthony lead a series of organizations and protests in hopes of granting suffrage to all American women. Through this, she became one of the United States' greatest leaders while also helping to bring to pass one of woman's' greatest dreams: the opportunity to vote and thus become involved in the previously male-dominated world of politics. Without certain vital qualities, it would have been impossible for Anthony to be the head of such a movement. Susan B. Anthony possessed many traits that enabled her to lead women effectively in the fight for women suffrage.
To gain the needed attention of scores of people Anthony demonstrated ample amounts of bravery. Though it was civilly disobedient, to make her point, Susan B. Anthony "set the example herself, [and] returned to Rochester and assembled a group of women to vote with her in the presidential election of November, 1872" (Archer, 22)...
