All of our lives we are made to believe we are safe, safe from the harsh elements of the world. The sad fact is that we aren’t. It is true that you can’t live your life in fear, but you can be much more conscience of what could happen. We can never know what is going to happen to us at any point in time, but there are things that we as people can do to protect ourselves and be more prepared when and if something bad happens to us. When we look at the news and see some horrible car wreck or someone shot for no apparent reason, we look at the victim’s parents and we see the horror in their eyes and we think that could never happen to us… right? Everyone thinks bad things only happen to other people. Especially when we are in our steel armored transportation vehicles. Of course I’m talking about cars. We drive for a while and we maybe get into a little fender bender, but never a serious car wreck, so we think that we are safe and if we drive carefully we wont get hurt. But there are some things you can’t control in life, and sadly enough, this is one of them. You might be able to have enough time to try to swerve, but usually the little time you do have is spent panicking, not swerving. When you are on vacation and you don’t have a cell phone and you still get a call, you know it has to be something important. I got a call from one of my friends from my hometown, I don’t really talk to her that often, so it was kind of weird. My mom hands me the phone, “Hello?” I asked.
