Two works can discuss the same topic by using examples and creating imagery about their subject. In “The Circuit,” by Francisco Jimenez, and “Napa, California,” by Ana Castillo, these authors show the harsh lives of migrant workers. These authors use similes, symbols, oxymoron, and personification to show what the life of migrant workers is like. Francisco Jimenez uses similes, symbols, and personification through out his work, “The Circuit.” One example of a simile is when Jimenez wrote, “… tilting his head from side to side like a parrot….” Jimenez is using imagery to show how the person was moving their head. This simile is comparing this person to a bird, which allows us to picture what his action was.
