Life-Saving Chair
In the last century people have found ways to protect themselves from harm. By putting "warning contents may be hot" on the coffee cups at McDonald's, or by having caution labels on lawn mowers warning people not to touch moving blades, manufacturers have saved many from burns or severed appendages. The people that find ways to save others from death have the most important roles. These people design cars to crumble in accidents, life jackets that keep people from drowning, and the seats in aircraft that propel pilots out of an exploding plane. A major obstacle in human safety that had to be overcome was gravity. The American government was losing millions of dollars to the training they gave pilots who were dying in war. The loss of their lives was tragic and it also slowed down the airborne attack on enemies. The government needed to create a device to save these pilots that would both benefit lives and save money.
