Mobile Network Standards:
Mobile network standards enable basic intersystem communications to facilitate roaming and availability of services in a ubiquitous and seamless basis. The two major mobile network standards are ANSI-41 and GSM.
ANSI-41:
ANSI-41 defines the intersystem operations protocol deployed in North America and other parts of world where non-GSM standards AMPS (Advanced Mobile Phone Services), D-AMPS (Digital- Advanced Mobile Phone Services) , and CDMA are employed.
GSM MAP:
The GSM Mobile Application Part (MAP) is the mobile networking portion of the overall GSM standard that is employed in GSM network.
Wireless Intelligent Networking Standards:
Although WIN and CAMEL are not the only means of gaining network intelligence, they are the most widely recognized standards-based approaches used to derive network intelligence for mobile networks. Just as with mobile N/W standards, there are various proprietary forms of intelligent network functionality for mobile networks. These networks are by definition non-standard, meaning that they work only between network elements that are programmed to understand their proprietary language. In some cases , these methods are not even network-centric (e.g...
