I have been fascinated with weather ever since I was a teen. At the age of ten I was issuing my own severe thunderstorm watches and warnings, flash flood watches and warnings. I even posted weather terms on the door for reference. When I was fifteen, I was so obsessed with the weather that I had a disorder called obsessive compulsive disorder; which meant that I would go outside or get on my computer and check the weather every ten minutes, and if I didn't I would go insane. Now at age of 18, I'm cured from that disorder but the love of weather is still burning inside of me.
Meteorology is a very hard subject; harder than I previously thought, in fact. The preconception that math would never help me in life was soon shattered as I learned that it accounted for a large portion of storm tracking and forecasting. Computer models were also used for tracking estimated amounts of rainfall, severe thunderstorms, long-range forecasts, cloud cover, hurricanes, upper air pressures, dew points, and much more. After finding out that the job required mainly computer work, I was relieved to know that my back wouldn't be hurting when I came home at night.
Also, I'm not a biggie on travel, however, and soon found out that problems might arise from that portion of the job...
