The problem is two-fold; the first is there is an immediate shortage of Health Information Management personnel. The second part there is also a long-term shortage of the same. Health Information Managers work in a vast variety of organizations such as: hospitals, doctor's offices and nursing homes. Shortages in the health care field are not anything new, but this one is a little different than most. This one will be compounded by what is called the graying nation. As the Baby-Boom Generation gets ready to retire there are not as many workers behind them ready to take their jobs.
