As humans we always hope to maintain perfect health throughout all our life. One's health is something that is so precious and often taken for granted until catching a cold, flu or even worse. We have chosen the subject of viruses to be better informed about a few of the major ones that have affected the world population in the recent past such as Hepatitis, West Nile, and SARS.
Our first article discussed a Hepatitis A outbreak in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. State health officials learned of the outbreak after emergency room doctors in Beaver County reported an unusual number of cases of Hepatitis A. Apparently, all the people who contracted the virus had all eaten at the local Chi-Chi's Restaurant within the month. Health officials were still unsure as to the exact cause of the outbreak. On November 2nd, the Chi-Chi's Restaurant voluntarily closed. Although eleven Chi-Chi's workers tested positive for Hepatitis A, investigators believed that it is unlikely that a single person transmitted the disease, since the outbreak was so large. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention labeled this as the biggest outbreak of food-borne Hepatitis A in the United States...
