What kinds of information technology were used to facilitate the restructuring of
Oticon?
After reading the dis-organization of Oticon article like Lars Kolind went back to the
basic of information technology. Most companies thought the more technology you have
the faster you will grow and produce smaller and smaller equipment. Lars Kollind went
the opposite directions with the focal point on having workers interact in the work place.
Instead of cubicles he made the work area open so that workers were forced to talk and
exchange ideas. His goal was to make a better product by getting his employees to be
creative thinkers not drowns. He did always with job titles and filled open spaces with
the same exact workstations for each employee. He required employees to speak and
exchange ideas verbally instead of memos. The company also offered employees the
same identical computer that the company used with the agreement that they would seek
further education on their own. With computers at home employees worked more hours
without thinking about it...
