Red White and Blue
Real Americans remember where this country came from, work hard for themselves and their families, help their neighbors and love this country, good, bad, or otherwise. I am a northern girl who has lived in this part of the country my entire life, yet I am still able to grasp the concept of Lynyrd Skynyrd's song Red White and Blue. That is what this song is all about, how the working class struggles to make a living now and is viewed upon by society as being a lower class of "rednecks". LS sings about how you should be proud of who you are because the very foundation on which this country was built was from hard working blue-collar men. It takes a very non-liberal point of view and challenges the government, white collared workers, and any other liberal that may otherwise view the working class as rough around the edges and without a place in today's society.
The first line of the song gives a good overview of what is to come. "We don't need no plastic LA friends, ain't on the edge of no popular trend" is a line in which the writer is saying we are not up to date with mainstream America. We are the throwback or old school culture that has very little need for being "pretty" or "hip". They challenge the fact that parts of America have become too fashion sensitive.
