We had a few complaints about the SM122 Final Exam. They are as follows:

The correct answer as given in the Exam Key is "The formation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)." On pg. 160-61 of our SM122 Course Packet it describes the first stage which is called Industrial Environmentalism from 1960-1970. "Corporate environmentalism emerged in the early 1960's in relation to issues regarding pesticides, automobile emissions, and oil spills." This is why I chose the answer "The development of DDT," thinking that it influenced Rachel Carson to write her book Silent Spring in 1962, which seemed to be a highlight of the first stage. It continues to talk about the second stage or Regulatory Environmentalism which was from 1971-1981, the formation of the EPA is grouped into this according to slide 12 of the April 9th Environmental 1 lecture. The formation of the EPA is grouped into stage two, not stage one. According to the lecture slide the EPA was formed in 1971. Why is motivation important for the planned giving department?..
