Eating Disorders
All around us we are surrounded by beautiful people. These beautiful people are our role models and we as Americans attempt to look like the movie stars, singers, and models that the media throws in our faces. In today's society we are taught that thin is beautiful. Looking up to our role models we put ourselves through all sorts of misery to be thin. Many Americans today acquire a disease known as an eating disorder by trying to become like their role model.
Society tells us that being beautiful should be one of our main priorities. From the time that we start learning we are taught that looks are an important factor, and that you can get a lot based on looks; people that are considered unattractive will have to work tens times harder to be half as successful as a beautiful person. Thousands of girls each participate in contests known as beauty pageants. As a winner of this pageant you have the opportunity to make a difference in the world. Perhaps an unattractive female has great ideas, and a plan to help make our world a better place...
