What is the definition of the death penalty, also known as capital punishment? The death penalty is punishment that promotes justice and fairness. Justice and fairness is to the families who were hurt by the crime that happened to their family member. It is also injustice to tolerate criminal behavior such as murder. The death penalty is imposed only when evidence proves a person guilty of something extreme, like murder. Some people view the death penalty as unjust or unfair. Some people are for it and some are against it. I chose to write on the death penalty because I have always had an interest in it and I believe it is the right thing to do.
