There's no point in trying to defend this lady. She was brought forth to me 4 days prior to stand before the clergy men in the ecclesiastical court. The crime she is accused of though is very odd for her to be brought up to the church to be tried. In this present day, women were not brought to court to be charged with adultery, but I suppose that as the 3rd wife of the King, she should be tried with adultery, especially because it is well known that the king wishes to divorce her for she cannot bare his children. But, divorce is not even permissible, so charging her with adultery and having her excommunicated is the next best thing.("Simony") But being sworn to the cloth compromises me to do my papal duties and do what I can to help her. After all, it could be quite worse and she could be facing a group of people to determine if she is guilty or innocent, and if found guilty, adultery is punishable by death. And everyone fears a painful stoning.
The King officially has no proof that his wife cuckolded him, due to the fact that she did not defame him in such a way. Her majesty wants to call forth some witnesses but the only way that I can do such a thing, but I cannot have people come forth to testify because the main way to get a person to come and testify is to threaten their lives among other things...
