When he actually comes questioning about Eva Smith's homicide you ask the questions "who is he?" "What have the Birling's got to do with Eva?" also other questions come intentionally to get you thinking and more involved with the play. J.B Priestley the author of the play does this to get attention to the fact that what he's done is very clever. The play ends on a cliffhanger with the Inspector being portrayed as a subconscious guilt inspector...
